If there’s one CULT+KING product that holds everything together, it’s JELLY. We consider it the center of the C+K Universe.
We intentionally offer only a few products because duplicates for the sake of sales feeds toxic capitalism.
Many companies in many product categories launch new products quarterly for no other reason than to boost sales, driven by the allure of “newness.” But these “new” items often aren’t truly innovative. Their ingredients closely resemble those already available, just repackaged with an insignificantly small amount of whatever-is-the-hot-trending-ingredient to make them the shiny new thing consumer culture has trained us all to be attracted to and want. RESIST!
Our product line isn’t small because we don’t have any ideas or ambitions. Quite the opposite!
We created a compact, mixable line, with fewer products to learn about and incorporate into your daily routine, and less financial risk for our small business partners. Some larger luxury brands require the equivalent of a car loan just to get started, leaving businesses with money tied up in inventory. Good for Wall Street but not Main Street. Constantly reformulating, discontinuing, repackaging, and launching products feels wasteful and unnecessary to us. We prefer creating products people genuinely love and stick with.
JELLY holds a special place in our lineup because it is our sole true hold product.
We think of our products in terms of their SLIP or STRUCTURE properties. BALM, for example, offers pure SLIP with its nearly 30% organic Shea Butter base. Products like STYLE blend SLIP and STRUCTURE. Then there’s JELLY, our exclusive STRUCTURE-focused product.
Having just one true hold product reflects our commitment to clean ingredients, which significantly limits our options.
Typical industry choices like PVP (Polyvinylpyrrolidone) and Acrylates are petroleum-based and are now classified by the EU as microplastics. We strongly believe petroleum-based microplastics should not be in anyone’s products.
Instead, we use three salts in a moisturizing serum that both holds and hydrates the hair.
This results in a soft, powdery hold rather than a crunchy feel, making JELLY suitable as the clean alternative to Sea Salt Sprays, Root Boosters, Casting Gels, and Mousses.
